Biography

I began my journalism career writing features for my high school yearbook. The moment I submitted my silly Texas Academic Decathlon story, my teacher squealed with glee. I guess I had captured the nerdy humor with a sweet characteristic style.  Feeling the tug to continue with sweet, happy stories, I then earned a Journalism degree from the University of Houston.

I've had experience in the general assignment room. I've been to the city meetings. I've acted as features editor. I've covered a ground-breaking city shooting and I even covered the Aggie bonfire tragedy. I was the only reporter there that asked, "What good could possibly come out of all of this?" The answer, "We can show how we will all come together."

And, of all of the stories, these inspirational stories, I believe, leave a lasting impression on my heart. It's not about glory. It's not about me, but about telling His story through others.

My experience includes writing for The Daily Cougar, The Galveston County Daily News, The Texas City Sun, The Baptist General Convention of Texas, The Baptist Standard, the Houston Chronicle This Week Section, Texas Special Olympics, the Union Baptist Association and the Women's Missionary Union. Other media experience includes working at Houston PBS and Fox Sports Network.

I find the most joy in inspirational reporting. I just love sharing these stories. God is in everything. And, when we encourage each other with our stories, we are stronger.
